About the Department, Infrastructure and activities: 

Academic Activities

Classes, trainings and seminars of undergraduate and postgraduate students and trainees on regular basis. Practical demonstrations of Weapons, Poisons and Anthropological examinations are given on regular basis. Practical Demonstration classes for post-mortem examinations of various other institutes where morgue facilities are not available done here simultaneously. Training programs for Judiciaries and Law enforcement Departments are done in scheduled manner.

1st year PGTs attain OPDs under General Medicines as helping hands as well as attain Emergencies as per schedules.

Medico-legal works:

Clinical examination like – Alleged rape (Sexual assault) victim examination & accused examination. Age estimation for cases of participants of different age group events in Games & sports.

Post-mortem examinations

Post-mortem examinations are done on a regular basis (excluding govt. holidays, except PM). Crime scene investigations as Expert medical person are done by senior faculty members as requested/ required.

1.R.G.Kar Medical college ,KOLKATA recommended by the West Bengal Judicial Academy for training of their members above the level of Judicial magistrate and including the level of Additional district and session Judge.

2. State level conference of ‘The Bengal Academy of Forensic Medicine’ was held in R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital by the Dept of FMT on 30th August 2015
