Departmental set up

Faculty room, Meeting room, Seminar / class room (capacity 40), Departmental auditorium (100 capacity) , PDT Duty room ( AC) with attached bath , Library . The whole area is air-conditioned.

Designated Plastic Surgery OPD, 8 rooms, dressing room, teaching corner, Registration room. The whole area is air-conditioned.

CLINICAL ACTIVITY of the Department 

Special Clinic/ Units / Programs –  Cleft Clinic, Hand Clinic , Leprosy Surgery Clinic   - once monthly.

 

1.Upgraded Burns Unit  :

The department has got approval from the Department of Health & FW to open a Burn Unit with  HDU ,  Operation Theater and a Laboratory.   The Unit is situated in the 1st floor of casualty building.  It is  a 20 bedded ward, with HDU & separate OT facility. 

2.Leprosy Reconstructive  Surgery Unit –  It is Nodal centre of Leprosy Reconstructive Surgery in  the state.    

Different types of tendon transfer for nerve palsies are performed .

3.Cleft lip & Palate care Unit

A cleft lip and palate care unit has been established for the purpose of providing a complete treatment   including orthodontics , surgery, speech therapy, counseling under one roof and  involving many  departments and multiple institutes. This department is the nodal centre of Cleft care service catering 4 districts of the state with an      annual attendance of about 150 cleft cases per year.

4.Hand and Trauma Reconstruction Surgery  Unit

Various types of  Hand injuries including  Replantation are performed by PDTs.

5.District Leprosy  Reconstructive Surgical Service

The department is providing this service since 2005 and presently covering 8 districts of West Bengal. The faculty of this department with PDTs travel  to the districts, and perform Reconstructive surgery in the  district and sudivisional hospitals. This program is supported by   State and Central Government , Leprosy Delhi, and WHO.
