What’s the Trump administration’s plan for the Education Department?
Trump has been vocal about his plan to abolish the entire education department and let the state handle education respectively as he believes giving the local agencies control of the decision for the betterment of students will be taken more effectively and accurately.
Though it would be difficult to change the entire department which has been in operation since 1980, the administration would need to convince Congress. The agency funds every K-12 public school and manages a student loan portfolio to ensure students get access to higher education.
If Linda becomes the Education Secretary, it will be her first task to close the education department and return the control to the states. The administration has not announced the model to make the transition of power from federal to state, however, Trump believes in McMahon and her understanding of education & business that would reshape a better future and opportunities for American students.
After the triumph in the Presidential Election, Trump is all set to make his Cabinet choice to lead the new government, Linda McMahon is his latest pick for Education Secretary. If the Senate confirms her appointment, it will be interesting to see how she will work on Trump’s plan for the department.
