History Behind Eid Ul-Fitr

According to Islamic beliefs, Eid was first celebrated in 624 AD by the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. People celebrate the blessing of the Quran and express their gratitude towards Allah. 

The festival was initiated in Medinas when the Islamic Prophet Mohammad and his followers migrated from Mecca to Medina. According to Islamic beliefs, when the prophet arrived at Medina, he saw people celebrating two days where they celebrated the lord and formed a spiritual connection with the lord. 

It is believed that Prophet Hazrat Muhammad won the Battle of Badr against the Meccan Quraysh tribe, which became the turning point of the Islamic religion and the greatest Islamic victory in history.

• The day of Eid Ul-Fitr begins with a holy bath and offering a special prayer, Salat al-Eid. 
• The Muslims gather at the mosque and offer namaz to Allah in the morning. 
• People wear new clothes on the day of Eid Ul-Fitr and hud each other to wish Eid Mubarak. 
• People make sweet dishes at home, especially vermicelli, to spread sweetness in their family and life.
• People meet up on this day and offer sweets to each other. 
• People decorate their homes and follow a belief to get rid of any negativity on this day. Many people promise to leave their one bad habit of theirs on the day to Allah. 
• In some places, people also go to fairs organized on the occasion of Eid and enjoy it with their family.
• The day people encourage each other to forgive and seek forgiveness from each other and celebrate the day with each other without any grudges.
• At night, people eat Eid dinner and relish the variety of foods with their loved ones. 
• The younger members of families lined up in front of adult members to receive their Eidi or gifts or money on the occasion of Eid.
