The Managing Director of Bajaj has validated that Triumph could launch a new motorcycle this year. There is speculation that the Triumph Thruxton 400 could be launched this year. Read the article to learn about the upcoming motorcycle.

Last year, Triumph launched the single-cylinder bikes, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, and the customers liked the bikes. The company collaborated with Bajaj Auto and developed the 400 platform bikes.

Recently, Bajaj MD Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed the British company would launch the third motorcycle based on the new 400cc bike platform in 2024. It has gained the attention of many motorcycle enthusiasts. 

The upcoming Thruxton 400 will be a cafe racer-style motorcycle with a 400cc engine. The sporty aesthetic of the Thruxton 400 and its great speed make it more appealing to many motorcycle enthusiasts.

The MD of Bajaj has also mentioned that they will annually launch a new Triumph motorcycle in the next 3 years.

Key Features of the Triumph Thruxton 400

As mentioned earlier, the upcoming model is based on the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X the appearance and features of the model are slightly different from them. The features of the Thruxton 400 that we could gather from the mule test are:

• Appearance: The hardware of the Thruxton 400 is taken from the Speed 400, and the outer form of the bike is inspired by the cafe racer look of the Thruxton 1200. The test mule of the Thruxton 400 spotted in various instances revealed that the Thruxton 400 looks similar in shape to the Speed Triple RR. 
• Clip-on Handlers: Thruxton 400 test mules reveal that the bike will have a lower-set-clip-on handler, meaning the handles are mounting directly to the front frocks instead of the traditional bolt-on triple tree handlers. The clip-on handlers provide a comfortable sporty experience to the riders. 
• Cafe racer fairing: The unique feature of the Thruxton 400 is the front fairing or cowling. The front fairing in the model will improve aerodynamics and reduce wind resistance improving the speed and performance of the bike. The cafe racer cowling begins from the headlight and extends to the bottom of the tank of the Thruxton 400. 

Apart from these, the bike will have a similar round LED headlight as we have in the Speed 400.

Specifications of the Triumph Thruxton 400

The upcoming Thruxton 400 will have similar specifications as the previous models based on the 400 platform, such as traction control, slip-and-assist clutch, analog cluster, LED lighting, ride-by-wire, etc. 

The expected specifications based on the previous models of 400 platforms are:

• Disc brake: The bikers can expect the disc brake at the front and rear of 300mm/320mm and 230mm units. 
• Powertrain: The model will have a single-cylinder engine that delivers power of around 37.5 bhp and a torque of 37.5 NM. It will be a 398.15 cc, Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) single-cylinder engine with a 6-speed gearbox. 
• Range: The Speed 400 has a maximum range of 200+ miles, so the Thruxton 400 could be of a similar range.

Expected Launch of Thruxton 400

The bike will launch first overseas, then we can expect it in the Indian market.  Motorcycle enthusiasts can see the 400cc power of the model with a cafe racer look in mid-2024.

As Bajaj Auto has collaborated with the company, the manufacturing of the Thruxton 400 model in India will be done by Bajaj Auto. 

Bajaj has increased the production capacity of the Triumph motorcycles, so Indian riders can expect the bike in larger numbers when it comes to the floor. 

Pricing of Triumph Thruxton 400

The bike enthusiast can expect the price of the Thruxton 400 in between the pricing of the Scrambler 400X and Speed 400. 

The price of Speed 400 in India is around Rs 2.4 lakh. So, we can expect the pricing of the Thruxton 400 in a similar bracket or higher.  Remember, it’s a speculation, the real deal will be known after the launch. 

The upcoming Thruxton 400 has gotten the attention of many bike enthusiasts due to its cafe racer style and performance, like the 400 platform models of Triumph. 2024 is going to be another year for the 400cc bike with a new sporty look for sure.
