A few weeks of nationwide auditions precede each season of American Idol. In Season 22, the judges visit their hometowns in Georgia, Alabama, and California to witness the finalists perform live. We also have a decent notion of the schedule for this season if it is any similar to the several seasons that preceded it.
The American Idol Season 22 episodes should air on the following schedule:
- Auditions — Sundays from Feb. 18 – Feb.25 And March 3 – March 24, 2024
- Hollywood Weeks — From March 31 – April 1, 2024
- Showstopper Round — From April 7 – 8, 2024
- Live Concerts — From April 14 – May 6, 2024
- Season 22 Finale — May 12, 2024
It was revealed before the American Idol 2024 season that Katy Perry would be departing the program after its last season. Fox originally aired the series, but it currently airs on ABC. Katy said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February 2024 that she intended to leave American Idol after Season 22 to concentrate on her music.Â

The return of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie as judges for the 2018 season was announced by ABC in July. Ryan Seacrest, a veteran of American Idol, will also take up his hosting responsibilities.Â
When the program returned to ABC in 2018, the returning panel of judges was first invited to participate. Since then, Perry, Bryan, and Richie have all become comfortable in their positions and committed to assisting emerging singer-songwriters in realizing their aspirations.Â
Katy Perry that she will be departing American Idol after the 2024 season, only a few days before the show begins. She said to Jimmy Kimmel, “I think this will probably be my last show, my last season for Idol. I feel like I should go feel that pulse to my rhythm.
Perry went on to say that Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, her fellow Idols, were not informed of her intention to quit the competition until she broke the news on the late-night television program.Â

Who is hosting American Idol 2024?
American Idol Season 22 will see Ryan Seacrest return to his hosting role. He is the sole surviving member of the FOX series’ original cast.Â
The competition series has been hosted by Seacrest, who departed from his daytime talk show “Live with Kelly & Ryan” in 2023, since its inception on FOX and subsequent move to ABC.
