Navratri Colours April 2024

Chaitra Navratri holds spiritual and religious significance in the Hindu religion. It’s an important festival for Hindus, celebrated with joy and devotion. According to Hindu beliefs, Navratri is the most auspicious time as Goddess Durga comes to earth for nine days and blesses her devotees. 

The devotees worship the different forms of Goddess Durga during these nine days, observe fast, visit temples to see the Goddess, and seek blessings from the Goddess. 

This year, the Chaitra Navratri in April falls from 9 April 2024 to 17 April 2024. Each day of Navratri is associated with a unique colour that signifies each day with some different value. 

People believe that wearing these specific colours on Navratri encourages them to get into the Navratri zone, where each colour tells you the importance of this festival.

Significance of Each Navratri Colour April 2024

Significance of each Navratri colour of Chaitra Navratri:

Day 1 –  Red:

  • On the first day of Navratri, we worship the first Navdurga, Maa Shailputri, a form of Goddess Durga that represents the purest form of Goddess Parvati.
  • Devotees on this day wear red colour and offer red flowers to the Goddess to seek divine blessings from the Goddess. 
  • The red colour signifies brightness and liveliness and the preferred colour for Goddess Durga Chunri is also red.   

Day 2 – Royal Blue:

  • The second form of Goddess Durga, Goddess Brahmacharini. is worshiped on the Day 2 of April Navratri. Royal Blue is associated with Goddess Brahmacharini; it represents elegance, purity, and richness. 

Day 3 – Yellow:

  • Maa Chandraghanta, the married form of Goddess Parvati is worshipped on the third day of Navratri. Devotees worshipped her wearing Yellow on the day as she serves as the ruler of the sun. 

Day 4 – Green:

  • On the fourth day, devotees worshiped the fourth form of Goddess Durga, Maa Kushmanda, the deity of light and positivity. The green colour signifies the fourth form of Goddess Durga and evokes a sense of peace, growth, and positivity among the devotees.

Day 5 – Grey:

  • The fifth incarnation of Goddess Durga, Goddess Skandmata is worshipped on this day. The Goddess is holding Lord Kartikeya or Murugan in her lap in this form. The grey associated with the day shows the purity and beautiful form of nature. 

Day 6 – Orange:

  • The sixth incarnation of Goddess Durga, Goddess Katyayani is worshipped on this day. She is the fiercest form of Goddess Durga as she killed Mahishasur the evil demon and protected her devotees from the miseries. 
  • The Colour Orange reflects the fierce brightness of the goddess Durga and devotees wear orange on this day. 

Day 7 – White:

  • The day is dedicated to the seventh form of Goddess Durga, Maa Kalratri. The white colour signifies purity and peace. Devotees wear white to seek blessings from Maa Kalratri on this day.

Day 8 – Pink:

  • The eighth day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Mahagauri. The pink colour is associated with this day as it represents harmony, knowledge, and wisdom. Devotees offer pink flowers to the goddess to seek blessings for their family. 

Day 9 – Sky Blue:

  • The ninth day of Chaitra Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Siddhidatri, the final form of Goddess Durga. The goddess is associated with the sky blue colour as the colour signifies the sky and the vastness of nature just like the Goddess Siddhidatri who awards her devotees with knowledge and great energy.

On the final day 17 April 2024, people also celebrate the birth of Lord Rama and bid farewell to Goddess Durga after worshiping the Goddess for nine days. 

It is believed that devotees who donate and are kind to others on these days get awarded from Goddess Durga. The nine-day festival comes to an end as the Goddess showers her blessing to the devotees before going back to her abode.
